falconry as a method of disease prevention
WHAT IS THE RISK?
The main concern with feral pigeons is the potential risk of the transmission of Avian Tuberculosis and other pathogens such as psittacosis, caused by the inhalation of dried particles of feral pigeon Guano usually circulated via open windows where pigeons are roosting or in the air conditioning system.
Environmentally friendly bird control is a popular method because it is humane and effective. It deals with problem bird situations whilst simultaneously ensuring that the environment is not polluted by potentially threatening pathogens.
Falconry is the most natural and historic method of disease prevention.
